Erektilna disfunkcija je nemogućnost pokretanja ili održavanja erekcije koja je dovoljno čvrsta da traje dovoljno dugo za završetak seksa do orgazma. Ovo stanje pogađa većinu muškaraca u nekom uzrastu.
Polje medicine nudi brojne vrste opcija i metoda lečenja erektilne disfunkcije: oralne lekove, terapiju testosteronom, terapiju plazmom bogatom trombocitima i druge injekcije, do invazivnijih opcija kao što su implantati penisa, pumpe, operacije, čak i terapija udarnim talasima. Ipak, uvek postoji potraga za sledećom najboljom stvari ili drugom opcijom.
2026. godine došlo je do pomame i porasta popularnosti oko posebnog nemedicinskog TestoY gel za muskarce koji se prodavao bez recepta i koji su prihvatale mnoge osobe koje pate od ovog stanja.
Iz tog razloga, sprovedena je studija sa 1000 evropskih muškaraca koji su imali erektilnu disfunkciju (ED), a njen cilj je bio da se utvrdi koliko bi nitroglicerin gel bio efikasan u lečenju ED kada se nanese na glavić penisa. Metod je obuhvatao 2 grupe: 1) grupu sa nitroglicerinom i 2) grupu sa nemedikamentoznim gelom. Obe grupe su nanosile gel na glavić penisa. 62% svih učesnika je postiglo zadovoljavajuću erekciju sa obe grupe. 59% muškaraca je postiglo erekciju kako bi završilo seksualni odnos sa obe grupe. Ova studija je zaključila da je TestoY gel povećao kvalitet erekcije bolje nego što se očekivalo za placebo.
